Meet the owners

Rich & Tina Sumampow

The Blind Biz, LLC is a Michigan-based business, family owned by Rich Sumampow. Since starting in 2002, The Blind Biz has doubled in size almost every year. Rich handles every aspect of the business, from the initial call to the installation and beyond.

Rich grew up in Gaylord, Michigan, and graduated from Michigan State with a degree in advertising. After working for the family blind business, he learned everything about window treatments and has grown The Blind Biz into one of the most referred window treatment businesses in Metro Detroit.

In July 2011 he married the love of his life, Tina. Together they enjoy life and have fun with their three kids.

Our story

A family business that comes to your Birmingham home

The Blind Biz has been helping Metro Detroit homeowners choose and install window treatments since 2002, and Birmingham has been part of that from the start. We skipped the showroom. Instead, we bring full-size samples and sample books to your home, where you can see how each fabric, finish and slat looks against your walls, floors and Michigan light.

That approach keeps our overhead low. We don’t pay showroom rent, we don’t pay decorator commissions, and we don’t hand installations to subcontractors. Those savings go into your price, which is why we can promise the best value in Metro Detroit, guaranteed.
